CHALLENGE

After VOLO’s stunning inaugural launch of Gala’s “Into the Galaverse” in Las Vegas; followed by the companion brand launch of Gala Music during Superbowl week in Los Angeles; and during the all-time-epic production of Gala 2.0 on the tiny European island of Malta – Gala challenged VOLO to craft a 3-minute theatrical quality animation as the cornerstone for their latest companion brand launch: Gala Film.

More specifically, VOLO’s challenge was to create from scratch – from a blank sheet of paper to animated images on the screen – a story that embraced both legacy and new Gala characters on an adventure into the future – where Gala Film would emerge. All of this on short notice and within the “churn” of one of the most ambitious event productions in industry history.

SOLUTION

Applying detailed budget and project management skills to multiple disciplines, including – concept development, creative direction, art direction and sound design – and marshaling 60 animators in three countries working 24/7 for 35 days, VOLO, once again, secured success from the jaws of impossibility.

The result was theatrical quality animation that defined and successfully launched the GALA Films companion brand – and also reinforced key GALA intellectual properties from their Games and Music ventures. It was a standalone achievement which, taken by itself, would rival the scale of most industry events.
